Administrative Core
Faculty Core
Director:
Marsha Mailick Seltzer, PhD
Introduction:
The Administrative Core is the nucleus of the Waisman Center IDDRC.
It provides the scientific, administrative, and fiscal leadership of
the center, and supports core projects’ needs for communications
expertise and computing security.
Goals:
The overarching goal of the Administrative Core is to provide the
environment in which science relevant to intellectual and developmental disabilities flourishes and in
which investigators can devote their maximum energy toward making
advances that will lead to the discovery of the causes,
consequences, and cures for intellectual and developmental disabilities, with the least administrative
burden and the greatest degree of cost-effectiveness of core
services.
Objectives:
Specific objectives of the Administrative Core include:
-
Scientific
leadership, with a focus on IDDRC program development and
recruitment of new faculty investigators.
-
Development and
acquisition of public and private sector funds for the support of
new and continuing IDDRC research programs, facilities, and
equipment.
-
Scientific
communication services to promote and enhance the research
programs of the IDDRC, including design and production of printed
and electronic scientific informational materials (e.g., posters,
graphics for publications) and the recruitment and maintenance of
human subject populations (in conjunction with the Research
Participation Core).
-
Computing
support and network security to complement existing information
technology services available to IDDRC projects through the
broader UW-Madison computing infrastructure.
-
Administrative
services for research support, including pre- and post-award
grants management, human resources, accounting, and business
services for IDDRC projects.
