The Department of Psychology at the University of Wisconsin is an exciting place to study developmental psychopathology, emotion, and human psychophysiology. Members of the Child-Emotion Research Lab share interests in emotional development, developmental psychopathology, developmental psychophysiology, child clinical psychology, and developmental neuropsychology.
Prospective graduate students may apply for admission to the Ph.D. program in psychology through either the clinical, developmental, or biological area groups. Students interested in combining different areas of study may apply through the Psychology Department's new Individualized Graduate Major Program.
Especially strong applicants with interests in the biological aspects of emotional development or the relation between emotion and psychopathology may be considered for our Emotion Training Program, which supports students in any of the graduate areas within psychology. A Merck Foundation grant is also available to support dissertation research in developmental disabilities and mental health.
Post doctoral support for those interested in developmental psychopathology is available both through the Emotion Training Program (R. Davidson, Director) and the Training Program in Mental Retardation/ Developmental Disabilities through the Waisman Center (L. Abbeduto and M. Seltzer, co-directors).
